Nagapanchami

Nagapanchami is an event devoted to the snake-god. As is apparent from its name, it occurs on the fifth day (panchami) of the fortnight. This festival is usually celebrated in August. It is celebrated with great passion particularly in the rural areas. On this occasion women and children visit snake-pits and show respect the snakes residing there by performing Aarti and offering milk and honey to the snakes.

The Kalidas Festival

Organized by MTDC (Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation), Kalidas Festival is celebrated in November every year at Nagpur. Kalidas Festival is basically a musical and dance show, which also has performances by theatre artists. Ramtek town, which is located in the Nagpur district and is known for its association with Lord Rama is the exact venue of the festival where it is celebrated with high enthuses. This is why because Ramtek is the place where Kalidas wrote his famous poetry Meghdoot, inspired by the beauty and serenity of the surroundings.
