The Pench National Park, Nagpur lies on Nagpur-Jabalpur NH-7, just on boarder of Madhya Pradesh and Maharastra and is one of the most popular tourist destinations and wild life park in the city. The Pench National Park is situated at a distance of 95 kms from the city of Nagpur and is well-known for the abundance of flora and fauna found within the park as the varied species of wildlife. The total area covered by this national park is 542.66 square kms. It named after the river Pench that flows nearby. The Reserve is situated in the southern part of the Satpura hill range in the Seoni and Chhindwara districts in Madhya Pradesh

The wildlife of the Pench National Park in Nagpur includes Indian bison, tiger, wild dog and leopard. Many other species of flora and fauna can be viewed at this national park of Nagpur like Sambar, Chital, Deer, Nilgai and Wild Boar. The ideal time to visit the Pench National Park is during the month of February to the month of June. The national park is not open for public viewing during the monsoon season, that is, from the 1st of July to the 31st of October.

The Pench National Park is often visited by the wild life lovers, as it houses a wide variety of flora and fauna. The woodland area of Pench National Park is scented with tropical dry deciduous teak and interspersed with bamboo trees and other verities of bushes. The 'Kullu tree' (a species of gum tree) in Pench is most popular, and visitors are often mesmerized by its almost white bark and spread out branches that are a startling contrast to the lush greenery around. Beside these, there are many rare selections of herbs and grasses in this region -many of them of medicinal use. A number of endangered species have made it their habitat including the Indian wild dog, the wild pig, nilgai, chital, muntjac, gaur, the four-horned antelope and of course tigers. The tiger population in pench is one of the hightest - 55, in number. The park is also rich in bird life with over 200 species like barbets, bulbuls, minivets, orioles, wagtails, munias, mynas, waterfowls, and blue kingfishers. The Pench River and water streams that flow through the area, along with nallahs and narrow valley provide the perfect habitat for the water birds of this region. This is also the hunting land for crocodiles and turtles.
